Covid Booster Doses for Frontline, Health, and Senior Citizens to Start Today

COVID-19 pre-cautionary dose will be administered to the eligible populations starting today, 10 January. The booster Jab will be given to frontline and healthcare workers and those over 60 years with co-morbidities. On 25 December 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the administration of preventive doses for healthcare and frontline workers from 10 January 2022.

Last month, Narendra Modi, Prime Minister, announced the administration of preventive doses for senior citizens, healthcare, and frontline workers.

  • The eligible citizen who has taken two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine can directly take an appointment or walk into any COVID vaccination center.
  • There should be a break of 9 months between the second and pre-cautionary doses.
  • Such eligible frontline workers, health care workers, and co-morbid people above 60 years of age can take the online slot.
  • The registration for 'pre-cautions dose' of COVID-19 vaccine for frontline, healthcare workers, and senior citizens above 60 yrs went live on the Co-WIN platform from Saturday.
  • The third jab will be the same vaccine as the people have received for their first and second doses.

  • Around 1.9 crore frontline and 1.5 crore healthcare workers and 2.75 crore co-morbid people of the 60 plus age group would be administered the pre-caution dose according to schedule. Health Ministry sources said, PTI reported.
