Local Train travel pass to provide today in Mumbai

The passes will be provided at railway stations after verification of the vaccination status, according to BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)

As Mumbai local train services are setting to open from this week, the process to provide passes for travel will start from Wednesday for those who have been taken a double dose and through with their 15 days of a post-jab waiting period.

City mayor Kishori Pednekar announced on Tuesday.

The local train services are planning to open for double dose vaccine citizens from August 15,

As per the release, interested commuters can obtain the required pass by submitting a hard copy of their Covid-19 vaccination final certificate with a photo ID. The civic workers at a help desk will check the validity of and status of the Cowin app for vaccination certificates.

BMC said.

"Once the verification is completed and both documents are found to be valid document, and certificate and identification proof will be stamped in the prescribed format,"

The stamped certificate will have to be presented at the ticket window to get a QR code-based pass.

Three hundred fifty-eight help desks were set up by administration, and 53 desks railway stations falling under the BMC's jurisdiction for the same, as per a report by the PTI. The authorities will reportedly establish help desks at 56 suburban stations in Mumbai Metropolitan Region MMR (outside BMC limits.

These help desks will be operating from 7 am to 11 pm in two consecutive sessions. Monthly season passes issued will continue on all seven days of the week until further orders.

BMC also said.

The BMC is also creating an app to assist people in obtaining the pass online.

"The process of making this facility available online is underway. But it may take a some more time,"

Further announcing the guidelines, the BMC said that if a person fails to produce even one of the two documents - vaccination certificate and photo ID - they will be denied entering the railway station.
