Milkha Singh Discharged from Hospital in Stable Condition

Flying Sikh Indian Legendary sprinter Milkha Singh got discharged on Sunday from a private hospital where he was getting treatment for COVID-19 infection as he continued to be on oxygen support. At the request of his family, the 91-year-old Milkha Singh got discharged in stable condition; his wife, Nirmal Kaur, who is 82-year-old has been shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on Saturday night due to increased oxygen requirement.

The Fortis Hospital, Mohali, gave the statement that

Milkha Singh was discharged from the hospital yesterday in a stable condition at the family's request. As he is on oxygen and nutritional support

Milkha Singh's wife had to be shifted to the ICU on Saturday due to increased oxygen requirements. She continues to be stable.

After tested positive for the highly contagious virus, On Monday, Milkha was admitted to the hospital; At the same facility on Wednesday, his wife got admitted. The hospital had updated earlier that they were getting treated for COVID-19.

The couple's son and ace golfer Jeev flew down to Chandigarh from Dubai on Saturday while the golfer's elder sister, Mona Milkha Singh, a doctor in the United States, also reached here a few days ago.

Milkha has suspected of having contracted the infection from a house help.

The legendary athlete is a four-time Asian Games gold medallist and 1958 Commonwealth Games champion, but his most outstanding performance was the fourth-place finish in the 400m final at the 1960 Rome Olympics.

His timing at the Italian capital remained the national record for 38 years till Paramjeet Singh broke it in 1998.

He also represented India in the 1956 and 1964 Olympics and was bestowed the Padma Shri in 1959.
