"I'm Done, Goodbye...": Comedian Munawar Faruqui

Munawar Faruqui, Comedian today, indicated he might not do any more shows after at least 12 of his performances were canceled in the last two months due to threats from right-wing groups. The latest show to be withdrawn was scheduled today in Bengaluru, where the police asked the organizers to call it off, citing possible law and order difficulty.

Mr. Munawar Faruqui spent one month in jail earlier this year on charges of "insulting Hindu goddesses and gods" during one of his comedy shows.

In a letter to the organizer of the Good Shepherd auditorium today, the Bengaluru Police referred to Mr. Munawar Faruqui's show "Dongri to Nowhere." They said Mr. Munawar Faruqui is a "disputed figure." Mohan Gowda of Hindu Jagran Samiti in Bangalore also said they wouldn't hold the show.

Following this, Mr. Munawar Faruqui, in the Instagram post, said they had sold more than 600 tickets for the Bangalore event, but the show has been canceled due to "threats of demolition."

Mr. Munawar Faruqui said.

"Aaj Bangalore performance cancel ho gaya under the threats of venue vandalism. We sold sold more than 600 tickets. Month back my team called Puneeth Rajkumar sir organisation for donations which we will be going to generate from this show in Bangalore. We agreed to not sells the show on the name of charity as suggested by the noble organisation,"

The comedian said in a lengthy Instagram post.

"Putting me in jail for a joke I never did to cancelling my shows, which has nothing difficulty in it. This is unfair. This show has obtain so much love from people in India whatever of their religion. This is unfair. We do have censor certificate to show and it's clearly nothing difficulty in the show. We called off 12 shows nowadays in the last two months because of ultimatum to audience and venue,"

He said.

"...I think this is a end. My name is Munawar Faruqui and its been my phase. You guys were wonderful audience. Goodbye, I'm done,"
