MMOPL (Mumbai Metro One Private Limited) On Thursday, which operates metro service on the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar route, launched an `e-ticket on WhatsApp' facility.
Mumbai Metro One is the first MRTS (Mass Rapid Transit System) to offer e-tickets on WhatsApp, it claimed in a release.
This was an extension of the Paper QR Ticket currently available through ticket counters.
To use the facility, passengers will need to send the message 'Hi' to 9670008889.
MMOPL also claimed that it had adopted many technological innovations like bank combo cards, mobile QR tickets, and loyalty programs.

How to get an e-ticket on WhatsApp?
Step 1: The passenger needs to send WhatsApp "Hi" to 9670008889 and Scan the QR code to get options of origin and destination, etc.
Step 2: Share the OTP received on the registered mobile number at the ticket counter and make payment.
Step 3: The QR code with fare and destination details will come to your WhatsApp.
Step 4: Scan the QR code at any automated fare gate and travel.
"The app-based product has been designed by our in-house team and implemented in association with our technology partners," said the metro authorities.
As per data, around 2.6 lakh passengers avail of the Mumbai metro one services every day, while tickets worth Rs 1.25 are sold daily. To ensure hassle-free services, the metro authorities have adopted many technological innovations like- QR-based paper tickets, smart cards, and QR-based UPI tickets.
