India pays tribute to Kargil heros on Vijay Diwas

President of India, along with General Bipin Rawat, chief of defense staff, was also planned to visit Dras today to pay respect to these soldiers at the Kargil War Memorial located on the foothills of Tololing. Still, he could not reach Kargil due to inclement weather.

India marked Kargil as Vijay Diwas on Monday, July 26, with tributes to the heroes of the Kargil War. The Indian armed forces defeated Pakistan in 1999, try to capture tactical altitude in Kargil in ‘Operation Vijay.’

Both Houses of Parliament stood up to pay their tribute and respect to Kargil martyrs. Remembering the war, the Rajya Sabha chairman said the Indian army showed “perfect courage and dedication and commiment determination” in Vijay Operation. He said this historic victory of Indian soldiers “who went beyond their responsibility” will remain a “memory forever.” with India.

Om Birla Lok Sabha, the Speaker, said,

“On the occasion, the House cheer the bravery of our soldiers. Our soldiers surprass the enemy fighting against all obstacles and tough climate conditions. The country is obliged to all brave hearts soldiers.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to say,

While Bipin Rawat was there in Kargil, where he took supply of security situation on Sunday, army officials told news agency ANI that President will now be putting a wreath at Baramulla War Memorial in Kashmir.

Defense minister Rajnath Singh visited National War Memorial in Delhi, where he laid a wreath to pay respect to the Kargil heroes. He said he bows down to “unbeatable valour and sacrifice of the Indian Army.” Singh also entered the visitor’s book at the memorial, saying,

“nation will continue to follow their ideals.”

Minister of state for defense Ajay Bhatt, Chief of Air Staff RKS Bhadauria, Chief of Army Staff MM Naravane, and defense secretary also paid respect to martyrs.

Union minister also paid respects to the “bravey and sacrifice” of the Indian army in the Kargil war.

She also tweeted

On #KargilVijayDiwas2021 I pay respects to the valour and sacrifice made by the armed forces in Kargil.

G Kishan Reddy Union minister said he

“salutes and bows in respect” to all soldiers who fought and laid down their lives for sovereignty, freedom, & integrity of territorial “Maa Bharati.” “Victory of India in Kargil is a witness to our personnel’s unparalleled patriotism,”

He said While defense Minister Rajnath Singh also laid a wreath in Delhi for these soldiers.
