PM Modi lay the foundation stone of Jewar Airport in UP

On Thursday, Narendra Modi, PM, laid the Noida International Airport (NIA) foundation stone in Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar. With this, UP will become the only state in India to have five international airports.

According to officials, located at a distance of 72 km from the IGI airport in New Delhi, the new airport will be India's most significant after its completion. The first phase of the airport development is being done at the cost of over Rs 10,050 crores.

The airport's construction comes just weeks after the PM inaugurated the Kushinagar international airport in UP to boost the country's aviation zone. Another international airport is currently under-construction in Ayodhya.

On ThursdayPM, Modi will put down the foundation stone of the new airport at 1 PM.

About Jewar International airport

Spread over on more than 1,300 hectares of land, the airport will be the second international airport in Delhi-NCR.

The first stage of the airport is the plan to be completed by 2024 and have a capacity of around 1.2 crore passengers a year. Depending on passenger growth and traffic, the airport will expand to serve 70 million passengers by the end of phase 4.

In the first stage, there will be a two-runway airport of 1,334 hectares for which an agreement has been signed. In the following location, the third runway in a 1,365-hectare area will come up for land acquisition. The 4th runway is in the 1,318-hectare region, while a 5th runway has been proposed in the second stage.

International bidder Zurich Airport International AG will execute it as concessionaire, PTI reported. According to officials, the groundwork for the first phase has been completed already.

It will also be India's first net-zero emissions airport. According to officials, land has been earmarked as a forest park using trees from the project place.

Jewar Airport location?

The airport is located in Gautam Buddha Nagar Jewar. Once the airport is constructed, the airport is likely to help ease congestion at the IGI Airport in New Delhi.

According to a report released by the PMO, the airport is strategically located. It will serve the people of cities including Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Agra, Faridabad, and neighboring areas.

The PMO said.

The PMO said that the airport is "set to be the logistics access of northern India and will help establish UP on global logistics map,"

All major highways and roads like the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, Western Peripheral Expressway, Eastern Peripheral Expressway, Yamuna Expressway, and others will be connected.

Jewar Airport to have over 1 lakh jobs.

The CM said the UP is working on airports where people could not have "imagined" earlier. He said the airport would bring 1 lakh jobs and that many other projects like Electronic Park, Film City are coming up in the region.
