The 2022 Indian Premier League season is a particular season as it will see the start of a new season and a dramatic overhaul of squads across the tournament. The 15th edition of the tournament will also see the tournament expand to a ten-team tournament with the entry of two new teams.

The new franchises are based in Lucknow (RPSG group) and Ahmedabad (CVC Capitals) and will have the ability to sign a maximum of three players before the mega-auction.

According to a report, Ahmedabad has finalized their draft picks with Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya, star Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan, and talented young batter Shubman Gill to join the new franchise.

According to rules set by the governing council, the three players have to be purchased for ₹15 crores, ₹11 crores, and ₹ seven crores. However, Ahmedabad is set to pay Hardik and Rashid ₹15 crores to acquire their services, while Gill will cost them ₹ seven crores.

As far as captaincy goes, Hardik is likely to lead the franchise in their debut season in the IPL. This will be the first time the 28-year-old will lead a team in the cash-rich league.

Before the upcoming season, Hardik had only played for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL, having joined the franchise in 2015. Hardik had a massively successful time with MI, having won the IPL title on four different occasions in 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020.

Meanwhile, Rashid's debut in the tournament came in 2017 for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and continued to play for them until IPL 2021. He has firmly set himself as arguably the best T20 player globally.

Similarly, the 2022 season will also be the first time Shubman Gill plays for a franchise other than Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), having been on their roaster since 2018.

Meanwhile, former Indian pacer Ashish Nehra is the franchise's head coach, while Vikram Solanki will be appointed the team director. Meanwhile, India's 2011 World cup winning coach Gary Kirsten will mentor.
