Ajinkya Rahane explained how he was worried after not getting a call-up for India despite scoring a mass of runs in first-class cricket. Ajinkya said that Pravin Amre was the one who helped him after he had a poor start to his First-Class Cricket career.

"The first 3 or 4 games in my first season of Ranji Trophy was not well. Individual had started to say that I should be dropped and sent back to club cricket, but Pravin Amre, our coach, stated, 'once we have got someone into the side, we should give him 7-8 matches before. Deciding.'

Rahane Stated, "There used to be seven league matches at the time, and my rest of the matches went quite well, I scored many runs, and from then, for the next five seasons, I scored more than a Ton every time in First-class Cricket. So yes, after the first two or three years, I started thinking that I might get a call-up any time, but the more I thought about it, the further it went away".

Ajinkya Rahane, who is currently in England as a part of the Indian Cricket Team for a Test match to play the first-ever World Test Championship's final, shared his interaction with Dravid during a Duleep Trophy last during an interview at ESPNCricinfo with former India wicketkeeper-batsman Deep Dasgupta. Ajinkya Rahane was playing for the West Zone while Dravid was representing the South Zone.

Rahane stated, "I remember in a Duleep Trophy final, we played against South Zone in 2008-09, and Rahul Dravid played in it at Chennai. I got runs in that matches– 165 and 98. Rahul Bhai(Rahul Dravid) called me up after the game and said, I've read about you a lot; you are scoring many runs. As a player, it is very spontaneous that you will start thinking about an India call-up. All I would tell you to keep on doing what you've been doing,"

You keep concentrating on that, and the Indian team call-up will come automatically. Do not run after it; it will follow you. Getting such advice from someone like Rahul Bhai boost my confidence a lot. That motivated and inspired me a lot. He has seen many things in life. I got another thousand runs next season; And two years after that, I was selected,
