Australia to tour Pakistan after 24 years

Australia to tour Pakistan tour after 24 years

Australia's men's team is set for a three format tour of Pakistan in 2022 March-April, playing in the country after 1998.

On Monday, The PCB announced details for the seven-match tour.

The campaign will feature three ICC World Test Championship matches through march, three ICC Cricket World Cup Super League ODIs (29 Mar to 2 Apr), and one T20I (5 Apr).

PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja said.

"I am delighted to welcome Australia team to Pakistan. From a personal opinion, it pleases me no end that we'll be involved in a three-Test match series, aesthete delight,"

"Australia is one of the high-performing teams, and them playing in our backyard for the first time after a space of 24 years will be a special celebration for the fans.

"Likewise, it will be a notable opportunity for the Australian cricketers to not only play at our iconic venues but also enjoy and feel the respect, hospitality and love that this great country offers, something which most of their former generation of cricketers missed out by playing offshore."

Ahead of the series, a CA delegation will visit Pakistan to meet with PCB officials and federal and provincial authorities to discuss and finalize matters relating to team security, logistics, operations, and Covid-19 protocols.

Australia's last tour of Pakistan was in the year 1998-99, which was their first series in Pakistan since 1959.

CA chief Nick Hockley said.

"CA is excited about the likehood of touring Pakistan next year for what will be a highly expected series in a country so incredibly passionate about the game and the national team,"

"Pakistan is a terrific opposition with an exceptionally talented team, as evidenced by the dynamic show in current ICC Men's T20 World Cup.

"We thank the Pakistan Cricket Board for their considerable efforts in planning for a tour and looking forward to continue to work closely in upcoming months to finalize the necessary logistics, operations, Covid-19 protocols, and security.

"The welfare and protection of our staff and players remains our number one priority, and we will continue to work with PCB and relevant agencies to ensure that appropriate and sufficient arrangements are put in place for the tour."
