England allrounder Moeen Ali retires from Test Cricket

Moeen Ali, England allrounder, has announced his retirement from Test cricket, and ECB also confirmed on Monday 27 September. However, He will continue to play white-ball cricket for the England team.

Moeen said.

"I'm 34, and I want to play for as long as I can, and I just want to enjoy my cricket,"

"Test cricket is impressive. When you have a good day, it's better than any other format by far, it's more rewarding, and you feel like you've earned it.I have enjoyed Test Cricket but that power can be too high sometimes, and I feel like I have done enough of it, and I'm happy and with what I and how I've done it."

Moeen Ali, England allrounder who has often not played for England as a leading spin option for years, made his debut in test format in 2014 at Lord's against Sri Lanka.

However, he scored a century in just his second Test match; Moeen still finished with a fair average of 28.29 with a bat. 2016 turned out to be an unforgettable year for Moeen as he added four more tons to his count.

However, he didn't reach three-figure again in his career; Moeen continued to be effective and successful with the ball. And against South Africa, he picked up a hat-trick in a home series in 2017 and was named player for picking up 25 wickets. In 2019, he was excluded from England's list of centrally contracted Test players,

After 18 months, he was back in test cricket against India in Chennai, and even though he made a triumphant return picked up eight wickets, England lost the Test match, and Moeen Ali was sent home by the ECB to manage his workload.

He was finally featured in a Test match in England after two years when the selectors recalled him without Chris Woakes and Ben Stokes. His final Test match came against India at The Oval in the last series.

In a career, he played 64 Tests; Moeen has made 2914 runs and picked up 195 wickets, falling short of becoming only the 1
5th player overall to achieve a double of 3000 runs and 200 wickets in the format.
