IPL playoffs to be played in Ahmedabad, Kolkata

The venues and dates for the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) were finalized on Saturday after an apex council meeting of the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India), as confirmed by board president Sourav Ganguly. The IPL playoffs will be held to total capacity in Kolkata and Ahmedabad.

The first Qualifier will be played on May 24, while the Eliminator will be on May 26, both at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The 2nd Qualifier will be played on May 27 and the final on May 29, both at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

As far as the men's IPL knock-out stage matches are concerned, it would be held in Kolkata and Ahmedabad, with hundred percent attendance allowed for the games to be played after the league staged finishes on May 22," Ganguly told media persons on Saturday.

The 2022 season of IPL has witnessed 35 matches, with new team Gujarat Titans leading the table with 12 points from seven games.

While, five-time winners Mumbai Indians are yet to open their account after becoming the only team to lose all first seven games in an IPL season.

In a meeting, it was also decided that the three-team Women's T20 Challenge will be held in Lucknow from May 24 to 28th.

The three-team Women's T20 Challenge, involving Trailblazers, Supernovas, and Velocity, has been allotted to the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) and held in Lucknow from May 24-28. The squads will be picked after May's ongoing women's Twenty20 Trophy. The big decision before the selectors will be whether they will choose the Big Two in Indian women's cricket - Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami, who have retired from T20Is.

Meanwhile, the BCCI has also confirmed that the five-match T20I series against South Africa in June will be played in Delhi, Cuttack, Vizag, Rajkot, and Bengaluru, on June 9, 12, 14, 17, and 19, respectively.
