Ravi Shastri to part from Indian National team

After the T20 World Cup, Team India head coach Ravi Shastri will part ways with the national team, slash for November later this year. Along with Ravi Shastri, the support staff, R Sridhar (fielding coach), Vikram Rathour (batting coach), and Bharat Arun (bowling coach), are also reportedly not shown interest in renewing their contracts.

"Rahul Dravid can reapply for the post of head coach, but with Ravi Shastri's tenancy is ending after T20 WC in November 2021, there is a possibility of Rahul being upraised as head coach's position for the national team. Bottom line is, he remains very much a part of system,"

Sixty years is the current age limit set for the head coach, similar for the NCA head role, and Ravi Shastri turned 59 in May. Ravi Shastri, a former India allrounder and a popular commentator, had joined the Indian team as director of the group from 2014 till 2016. Anil Kumble was holding it for a year, but after India's loss in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017, Shastri has appointed as the team's full-time coach. Under Shastri, India won two away series in Australia, reached the inaugural ICC World Test Championship final, and India made it to the 2019 World Cup semi-finals.

At home, India was a ravaging force in Tests defeating England, Australia, and South Africa. They blanked West Indies and Sri Lanka on away tours and were competitive in England and South Africa. Under captain Kohli, Ravi Shastri and the coaching staff, and Rahul Dravid at NCA, the Indian team's bench strength escalated, leading to an impressive Indian victory at Australia and two Indian squads playing cricket at the same time in a different location.
