Taskin Ahmed set to replace Mark wood in Ipl

Taskin Ahmed, Bangladesh pacer, might make a way to a debut season in the (IPL) Indian Premier League as part of the new franchise Lucknow Super Giants team (LSG). Taskin Ahmed, who is currently in South Africa for two-Test and 3 ODIs matches against South Africa, might have to leave his national side duty after the competition of the three-match series to take part in the cash-rich league.

As per a report by Bangladesh website Kaler Kantha, LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir called in Dhaka on Sunday evening, proposed an IPL contract for the 26-year old pacer, and kept a condition that he won't take part in the two-Test matches starting March 31.

The website said the two-time IPL-winning captain Gambhir.

"I want Bangladesh fast bowler Taskin in the team, which is for the whole ipl season. If he agrees to the offer, Taskin Ahmed will have to leave for India before the next two Tests against South Africa,"

While the pacemaker has been asked to communicate his decision by Monday, Taskin has asked for some time to think through the same and discuss it with the Bangladesh team management and the board.

If Taskin does accept the offer, he will join his compatriot Mustafizur Rahman in the 2022 edition of the cash-rich league as the only players from their country. While the Delhi Capitals picked Mustafizur at the mega auction, Taskin joins LSG replacing Mark Wood and will form an essential part of a potent pace attack featuring Sri Lanka's Dushmantha Chameera, West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder and emerging Indian speedster Avesh Khan, who had a breakthrough season last year with the Capitals.

LSG was dealt an enormous blow even before this start of their maiden season in the IPL when England pacer Mark Wood was ruled out of the whole tournament after sustaining an elbow injury during the first Test against WI in Antigua.
