The list of Players is Missing out of IPL 2nd Leg

Indian Premier League (IPL) second leg is knocking at the door, and several players have already backed out of it. Here, we chronicle some of the players who will be missing out.

The second leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL) starts from the 19th of September, oozes excitement and action, and is brimming with vitality.

Fans are eagerly waiting for the ball to roll out as breaches in the bio-bubble had led to an unprecedented scenario earlier this year, and the cash-rich tournament came to a screeching halt after 29 games. The second half will be in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), as India seems like a hotbed for the deadly virus.

Pat Cummins

The tall and lanky speedster from Australia was roped in for a whopping 15.5 crores in IPL 2020 by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise, and since then, he has been the backbone of the bowling department of the franchise based out in Kolkata. Not only with the ball, but Cummins has also been contributing with the bat.

However, the talented speedster will miss out on the tournament's second leg as his wife is pregnant to give birth to around September or October. Cummins had said he confirmed this in one of the Q&A sessions of his official YouTube channel in August.

Jos Buttler

The swashbuckling opening wicketkeeper-batsman of the Rajasthan Royals (RR), Jos Buttler, has pulled out of the IPL for personal reasons. His wife Louise and he are expecting a second child, and the buccaneering batsman will be missing out on the IPL sojourn. This comes as a massive huge to the Rajasthan franchise as their star bowler Jofra Archer is also out of contention as he is nursing a recurrent elbow injury. Buttler had amassed 254 runs in 65 matches in IPL 2021 with an S/R of 153.01.

Adam Zampa

Adam Zampa has often outfoxed batters with clever variations and wrong-uns and is hard to tackle, a wily leg-spinner from Australia. Even though Zampa did not feature in any of the first legs of IPL 2021, he was very much in the plan of things for the second leg of the IPL for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise. The pitches in UAE are conducive to swing. However, he will be missing out as RCB has recently announced that he is 'unavailable.' Hence, they have signed a spin all-rounder from Sri Lanka, Wanindu Hasaranga, as a replacement.

Riley Meredith and Jhye Richardson

The pace duo from Australia, Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith, are all set to miss the second leg of IPL 2021 as they pulled out just before the squad announcement day, as reported by InsideSport. As a replacement of them, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) franchise has roped in Nathan Elis. Jhye Richardson was grabbing at a great price of 16 crores in the IPL 2021 auction, and Riley Meredith had bagged a contract worth eight crores in the same auction. Both of them performed decently in the first leg of IPL 2021. While Meredith picked up four wickets in 5 games, Richardson scalped three wickets in 3 matches.
