Under 19 Indian Team reach fourth successive World Cup final

Under 19 Indian Team reach fourth successive World Cup final

Indian Captain Yash Dhull and Vice-captain Shaik Rasheed added 204 runs for the third wicket to successfully bat Australia out of the match, guiding India to their fourth successive Under-19 World Cup final with a 96-run victory.

Yash Dhull scored a century in the process while Shaik Rasheed fell six short, as Under-19 India scored 290 for 5 in 50 overs which proved to be too much for the chasing Australian side. India now will face England, another team on a similar unbeaten run in the top clash.

Australia starts well by taking out the India openers for cheap by the 13th over, bringing the third-wicket pair together. They had 18 fours and two sixes between them and played out 200 deliveries to build the Indian innings up from the start. Both were cautious initially but grew into the innings as Australia tried different bowling options in futility. Yash Dhull got to his half-century in the first 65 balls and geared up his scoring rate a mark since then without taking too many risks.

India's brutality continued in the second half of the match. Australia built a rapid second-wicket partnership with Corey Miller and Campbell Kellaway, only for India's left-arm spin trio of Vicky Ostwal, Sindhu, and Hangargekar to step in and derail the chase. Once Hangargekar broke the stand with Corey Miller's wicket, Ostwal and Sindhu ripped into middle-order Australia.

Australians went from 71 for 1 in the 17th over to 125 for 7, with all the six wickets falling to the Indian spinners. Vicky Ostwal finished with 3 for 42 - India's best game - taking his World Cup tally to 12 wickets. His and Sindhu's effectiveness through the middle-overs meant Lachlan Shaw's fighting 50 was a mere consolation for Australia as they were all out for 194 in the 42nd over.

Brief Scores: India 290/5 in 50 overs (Yash Dhull 110, Shaik Rasheed 94; Jack Nisbet 2-41, William Salzmann 2-57) beat Australia 194 in 41.5 overs (Lachlan Shaw 51; Vicky Ostwal 3-42, Nishant Sindhu 2-25, Ravi Kumar 2-37) by 96 runs
