Vikram Solanki resigns as Head Coach of Surrey to Join Ahmedabad Team in Ipl

Vikram Solanki, a former England player, has resigned as Surrey's head coach to join the Ahmedabad franchise in the IPL as its Director of Cricket. Vikram Solanki is set to join Gary Kirsten and Ashish Nehra, with the trio having previously worked together with the RCB in IPL 2019.

"Surrey has been a precious part of my life for the last nine years, both as a player and as a coach, deciding to leave a difficult one,"

Vikram Solanki said.

"I am all time grateful for the level of support that has always been afforded to my family and me during my time here. A very special thank you too to Alec Stewart, a guide and a mentor.

"I will remain inspired by all the learnings and interactions with players and staff I have had the extraordinary destiny of working so closely with. There are many friendships I will admire for a lifetime.

Solanki added.

"Finally, it has been an honor to serve the great Club(Surrey) in the small way I have, and it has been a privilege to have been the head coach of the Surrey team for the last two years. To all the players, Members, and staff, from the bottom of my heart, thank you!"

Vikram Solanki, who joined Surrey as a player in 2013, took on a coaching role with Surrey Second XI in 2016 and served completed as the coach with the Second XI in 2017. He later became AHC, working with Michael Di Venuto, before becoming a head coach for the 2020 season.

"Vikram Solanki was making good progress in his role as Head Coach with the man-management skills, structure, knowledge, and dedication he brought to the job, which I know all of the players have greatly appreciated in helping them become a better player.

Stewart said.

"On behalf of everyone to Club, I'd like to thank Vikram Solanki for his outstanding contribution during his reign at the Club and wish him the very best in his new test as a Director of Cricket in IPL. We will miss him, but he and his family will always be welcome to visit us all here at The Kia Oval,"
