Cristiano Ronaldo wins Golden Boot for UEFA Euro 2020

Euro 2020: Portugal's forward Cristiano Ronaldo and Czech Republic's forward Patrik Schick scored five goals each, while Karim Benzema of France scored four goals in this year's tournament.

Portugal Star and Captain Cristiano Ronaldo might have played four games in the UEFA Euro 2020, but that could not stop him from finishing as the top scorer in the Championship. Ronaldo scored five goals in the Euro Cup Championship, the joint highest as the Czech Republic forward Patrik Schick had also netted the same number of purposes.

However, Portugal's forward Cristiano Ronaldo won the Golden Boot Award via the tie-breaker of assists.

While Cristiano Ronaldo had one assist on his name, Schick finished the Championship with zero assists. In third place, Karim Benzema of France four socred goals.

Cristiano Ronaldo opened his account at UEFA Euro 2020 against Hungary with two late goals in the 3-0 win, taking his all-time tally to a new record of 11 in the Euro Cup finals.

He also added one more to his total with the 4-2 loss goal to Germany on Matchday 2 and then banged twice for a 2-2 draw with France from the penalty spot on Matchday 3.

According to UEFA, those two goals against France took Ronaldo's all-time tally for his country to a staggering 109 goals, equalling the world-record mark set by former Iran forward Ali Daei.

And although the Czech Republic's Patrik Schick also racked up five goals at the finals, Ronaldo finished out in front thanks to his assist against Germany, having played fewer minutes than Schick.

Italy finished hosts England's dream to win the UEFA Euro 2020 at the Wembley Stadium on Sunday (local time). England got defeated by Italy by 3-2 on penalties after the standard 90-minute game had finished at 1-1, and even extra time was not able to break the deadlock.

England captain Harry Kane, with four goals, had a chance to overtake Ronaldo ahead of the final against Italy. In the end, the latter claimed the award.

Ronaldo also became the leading goal-scorer in the history of Euros during the tournament, with his 14th strike. Meanwhile, with 109 goals, he had equaled Iran striker Ali Daei as the top scorer in international football.
