Manchester United sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Manchester United sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

After a poor show in the Premier League, Manchester United officially announced that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer left as Manager post.

After overseeing yet another crushing defeat, a 4-1 loss to Watford, Ole had walked over to the angry away fans. It held both hands up in apology before giving them a quick wave as if to say goodbye.

It was only a specific time before the club had made it official. Giving the charge of the Red Devils to Michael Carrick for the coming matches, the Red Devils said in their statement, “Manchester United announces that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has left his role as a Manager. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will always be a superstar at Manchester United and it is with regret that we have reached this tough decision. While the past few weeks have been disappointed, they should not unclear all the work he has done over the last three years to restore the foundations for long-term success.”

“Ole Gunnar Solskjaer leaves with our sincere thanks for his vigorous efforts as Manager and our very best hopes for a better future. His place in the club history will always be secure, not just for his story as a great player, but as a great Manager and a man Manager who gave us many great memories. He will forever be welcome back at Old Trafford as part of the Manchester United family.

The club added.

“Michael Carrick will now lead the team for upcoming games, while the club looks to appoint an interim manager to end the season,”

For United, it was the fifth loss in its last seven Premier League games _ the previous two coming to biggest rivals Liverpool and Manchester City.

This one could have been even poor, but Ismaila Sarr missed two chances to convert an early penalty _ both of them saved by De Gea _ after the first was retaking because of encroachment.

Joshua King still put Watford ahead on the 28th min, and Sarr made amends by netting the second just before the half-time break for Claudio Ranieri’s team.

Solskjaer counter by making two half-time substitutions, including little-used Donny Van De Beek, who has struggled to get opportunity under the Norwegian since signing for Manchester United last year. The Dutch midfielder counter by pulling a goal back in the 50th after being set up by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire was sent off for a second yellow card after an awkward challenge in the 69th minute. Ronaldo had an equalizer ruled out for offside shortly later. Watford then put on two goals in injury time to complete the route.
