Clubs in ISL will now need to have a minimum of seven Indian players on play at any given point in time.

On Tuesday, the Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) has announced that from season 8 of the ISL.

An increase of Indian players to seven will limit the number of foreign players starting XI to four.

How many foreigners can ISL clubs sign?

All the Clubs can sign a foreign marquee player subject to the league's approval.

The Indian Super League clubs will now be allowed to sign a maximum of six foreign players in their squad, while only four foreigners will take to the pitch. In addition, one foreigner will need to be from an AFC member nation.

From ISL season 8, In their roster, all clubs will also be required to sign a minimum of four developmental players X, while two players will continue to be a mandatory addition in a match-day squad.

The squad salary cap remains at INR 16.5 Crore for ISL season 2021-22.

The maximum squad size of a club will be 35 players, including three goalkeepers, with an option to replace an injured Indian player.
