Raphael Varane out for few weeks due to Injury

Manchester United has confirmed Raphael Varane will be out "for a few weeks" after the defender suffered a severe injury while on an international Match.

Varane got substituted during the first half of France's win over Spain by 2-1 in the UEFA Nations League final on Sunday.

After returning to Manchester United on Monday, the 28-year-old got assessed by United's medical staff on Tuesday with tests revealing he got set for a spell on the sidelines.

A Manchester United statement stated.

"Raphael Varane succoured a groin muscle injury in the UEFA Nations League final and has begin rehabilitation at the club manchester. He will be out for a not many weeks,"

The news will come as a further blow to manchester united's manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is already without skipper Harry Maguire.

Harry Maguire has missed the last two games with a calf problem. He is unlikely to face former club Leicester City on Saturday despite returning to light training during the international break.

Right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka will be available at the King Power Stadium but will miss the Champions League clash with Atalanta four days later through suspension.

Solskjaer is hopeful that Marcus Rashford will feature against Leicester after coming through a behind-closed-doors game with Blackburn last week.

Eric Bailly, whose one appearance this season came in a League Cup loss to West Ham, or Phil Jones, who has not played since January 2020, could now start Saturday's trip to Leicester in the Premier League.

After visiting the Foxes, the Red Devils face Atalanta at home in the Champions League before fixtures against Liverpool and Tottenham later this month.

Since the European Championships, the 23-year-old played for 60 minutes and has shown no ill effects after his first match action.

He has yet to play for Manchester United this season but could get set for a place on the bench on Saturday.
