Max Verstappen wins Miami Grand Prix

Max Verstappen, World champion, resisted a late attack from series leader Leclerc of Ferrari to claim an accomplished victory for Red Bull in close conditions at the inaugural Miami Grand Prix on Sunday. In a physical fatigue race for the drivers and teams at the Miami Autodrome, the 24-year-old Max Verstappen Dutchman produced a mature performance to make the most of superior straight-line speed in a primary race until a late Safety Car intervention.

His second win in succession and third season allowed him to trim Charles Leclerc's advantage to 19 points in the drivers' championships. Charles Leclerc has 104 and Max Verstappen 85. It was the 23rd win of Max Verstappen's career.

Max Verstappen, said interviewed by retired American driver Willy T. Ribbs.

"It was an unbelievable Grand Prix, very physical, but I think we kept it exciting until the end,"

When Willy T. Ribbs suggested he looked ready to "get into a boxing ring," Max Verstappen retorted: "I think I will stick to racing, but I respect boxing.

"I'm pleased with winning here in Miami, and it was an incredible Sunday for us."

Charles Leclerc said he felt that the Red Bull was a faster car than his Ferrari Car in a hot and strict race.

"It was such a tough race, physically," said Charles Leclerc. "We struggled a bit with the medium tires, especially in the first stint, and was overtaken there. That made our race a bit more challenging from that moment onwards.
